Fever is our body's natural reaction to infection or other inflammatory insult. It is NATURAL, and in most cases does not need to be treated at all. The only reason to treat a fever, is if the fever is making you feel worse. The true treatment for a fever is to treat the underlying cause.

Fever comes about when our thermostat, which is located in the hypothalamus, is affected by pyrogens created directly by bacteria or by the immune system in fighting an infection. These pyrogens increase the set point of the hypothalamus, making your body believe a normal temperature is too low.

The function of fever is to increase the ability of the body to kill invading bacteria. This happens via two mechanisms: many bacteria will not reproduce at a higher temperature, so raising temperature willl impede their growth and spread. Higher temperatures also increase the ability to fight infections by increasing the speed of chemical reactions, increasing the mobility of white blood cells, and increasing the ability of white blood cells to kill bacteria.

Rub your body with apple cider vinegar. After rubbing it wear warm cloth and get into a warm bed.

  • Fever treatment: Smear arrack on the lungs area and the back, wrap with a cloth or flannel shirt and cover up well.
  • blanch guava and drink warm.
  • For kids: Smear alcohol all over their body and wrap them well with a blanket for the whole night.
  • To reduce the fever naturally, saturate socks in vinegar for 5 minutes and wear them.
  • Fill up a bowl with 1/2 water and 1/2 vinegar. Dip a cloth in the fluid and squeeze, put the cloth over the patient's forehead. Keep dipping the cloth in the bowl every once in a while.
  • Home remedy for fever: fill up a bowl with water and add half a cup of arrack. Dip a cloth in the fluid, squeeze and put over the patient's forehead.
  • For adults use only! Make a cup of tea, add a few drops of rum or cognac and drink it.
  • Pour a cup of boiling water into a cup with grind/ cut horseradish root, wait 5 minutes and drink. Repeat 3 times a day.

I imagine it's the same for anyone. Try to cool their temperature. Be sure they are staying hydrated, too. Bring down their temp by sticking something cold under their armpit, perhaps a cool sponge bath. Webmd.com is a great resource.

Tylenol extra strength can be used to lower a fever. ibuprofen can also be used for fever to reduce pain or any discomfort. Taking a bath may help bring down a fever. Also trying putting a cold cloth on the forehead.

Go to the Doctor! A fever is when you body has totally had enough! Your body heats up because it knows colds live in cold climates. So its last resource is to heat up. I would also suggest feeling your glads (Throat area kind of along your jaw line) and don`t press to hard! Its probably an infection so you might need some antibiotics.

Usually people tend to use Tylenol or ibuprofen to break a fever. The best way to treat a fever is to first, find the cause and then treat. If unable to diagnose cause, the respiratory system is a fast way to reduce a fever. Makes a slight truth about blowing off hot air. .

Most doctors and mothers would tell an adult to seek medical attention when their temperature is over 102-103 F. A temperature of 104 and above can cause delirium, convulsions, or death.
