How do you tell when somone's lying?

If a person says the lie and they don't look at you while they are talking or if they just avoid eye contact, could be lying. Other ways to tell is if they smile, laugh, or even look down or talk louder than they usually would they could be lying. As for good liars, they would try to meet eye contact with you, and try to stay calm.

we are able to know that someone is a liar is when they tell you the story, they don't look at you in the eyes. usually they look down to the ground or look away!

Jared Kai While not looking you in the eye is sometimes an indicator, it is not a rule; many people quoting 'facts' from memory look away as a form of memory retrieval. Everyone lies, even if they don't mean to. This is caused by perception, what one person sees is different from what another person sees by simple location alone, without looking into mental states that change facts to fit the state.

Most juries in court cases are told to look at what is the same between all the witnesses to see a glimmer of the truth & events. The same applies in real life. In the end the only way to know, beyond a shadow of doubt, that someone is not telling the truth is by proving them wrong through other credible witnesses, recorded conversations or video tape, etc.

1: They dont look at you directly in the eyes.

2: They stutter and repeat words

3: They dont talk normally

4: There voice goes higher or lower than normal

5: They bite their lip

6: They fiddle with their hands

8: They purse there lips.
