The disease is mainly characterized by sudden intense, hot feelings on the face and upper body and sometimes are also preceded or accompanied by a rapid heartbeat, sweating, nausea, dizziness, anxiety, headache, weakness or a feeling of asphyxiation. The hot flash can be mainly followed by a flush which can affect the skin, leaving the skin reddened and covered with perspiration completely or at the top of the upper lip. It mainly comes as a result of menopause but lifestyle changes can affect the occurrence of hot flashes.
