Yes, they can be taken together.

Neurontin (or Gabapentin) was originally used to treat convulsions/seizures, but over the years, research showed that it was also effective for treating neuropathic pain (i.e. a pinched nerve) and many MD's prescribe Neurontin off-label for that type pain. ('Off-label' = prescribing a medication originally intended for one condition to treat a completely different one. Example (albeit, a benign one): Aspirin, originally used for pain/fever reduction is now used off-label as a blood thinner for people with high blood pressure, heart conditions, etc. Type your answer here...
