Yes. If you damage the optical part of the brain, it is possible to go blind, even if the eyes are perfectly healthy.
Think of it this way, you could have a good webcam plugged into your PC, but if the PC is damaged (such as if the USB controller is bad), it might not be able to get the image. So even if the camera is good, it won't be of no use if it is attached to a damaged computer that cannot make use of it. Thus it is with vision. You can have healthy eyes but have brain damage that makes the brain unable to make use of what the eyes are sending to it.
