I read online that it can cause nausea and heart palpitations. I am currently taking Sulfameth for a UTI and I had a glass of wine last night. I had severe stomach cramping. It is advised that you do not drink while taking this medication.

I don't recommend drinking when you're sick. Your body is going to need all its energy to fight off that infection. Alcohol is a depressant drug, and it slows down your body's responses. My advice is to wait until you're well to drink.

Can you, yes. Should you, no. One is a CNS depressant, the other is a CNS stimulant. An interaction like this can have very bad effects on your body. You should not mix the two at all.
