Drinking alcohol while on Lithium IS NOT OK!

Lithium can cause dehydration and IT'S IMPORTANT that you drink at least 8 - 8 ounce glasses of water per day!!!!! If not then your Lithium level will increase. ALCOHOL DEHYDRATES YOUR BODY!!!

It is also extremely important that you work closely with your doctor and have you kidneys and thyroid gland and heart function checked regularly while you are take this medication.

(I am not a doctor) I have been taking 300mgs of Lamictal once a day for 10 years due to a seizure disorder and I drink beer every couple of days. I haven't noticed any adverse effects. It is however, important to consider how long you have been taking it, what other medications you take, and how much you drink.

I have not had good experiences when I have tried and I am only on 100mg for migraines. It definitely intensifies the effect of the Topamax and i feel completely out of it the next day and I have never been one to be hung over. If I were you I would maybe have one drink and pass on the rest, trust me it is not worth it.

Blacked out a majority of the time on minimal drinks. Do not mix!

has anyone tried taking Nyquel or sinus meds on Topamax did they have bad side affects?

You have to talk to your doctor about this and most importantly be HONEST about how much you are drinking. If you are having one glass a month(I mean one 8oz glass) then you are probably ok. But it recommended that you not drink when you are on a seizure medication (even if that is not what you are using it for).

Can you consume Alcohol and lamictal and lithium?

I have been taking 300 mg Lamictal and 300 mg Lithium for a year. I can drink, but it doesn't seem to be as enjoyable to me as it once was. I seem to get affected by a very small amount of alcohol, and I feel icky for a day or so afterwards. My psychiatrist has told me that this occurs because Lamictal and alcohol are metabolized by the same enzymes in the liver, so the alcohol stays in your system for longer. I have also heard that it has something to do with GABA receptors in the brain.... Since I've been taking this combination, I have gotten really bad hangovers every time I drink- I feel it the next morning even after one glass. I have gotten really drunk a few times, and those were very unpleasant.

A lamictal rash is an allergic reaction. Like all allergic reactions, Stevens-Johnson Syndrome can occur. This is potentially fatal. So the lamictal rash is as serious as rash can get. After checking with a doctor to make sure you really do have the lamictal rash, you need to quit taking lamictal immediately.
