∙ 13y agoThe standard answer to this question is 'yes.' It can and has happened. Bleeding at any time in the month, whether regular or irregular, does not indicate a "safe" time, and it should not be assumed that pregnancy cannot occur.
The only way to be absolutely sure you will prevent pregnancy is to practice abstinence. The 2nd best method for preventing pregnancy is to use protection every single time.

∙ 12y agoYES! One of the most dangerous myths floating around out there is that it's impossible for a woman to conceive while having her period. It's true that it's less common, but IT IS POSSIBLE. Ovulation (when an egg is released into the fallopian tubes) can occur even during your period, which means that unprotected sex, even if you're actively bleeding, can still result in pregnancy. Don't ever assume there's a "safe time of the month." There are safer times, but it's always, always a gamble, and eventually you're going to lose if you have unsafe sex on a regular basis. If you're experiencing symptoms of pregnancy, even if the only time you had unprotected sex was when you were having your period, GO TAKE A PREGNANCY TEST. And go talk to a health care worker about safe sex practices, too-there's a lot of misinformation out there regarding pregnancy and the spread of STDs.
