Yes, it can. Better treatments exist than existed 8 years ago. Bell's Palsy is normally a temporary condition and sometimes goes away on its own. If this condition has existed for 8 year's, it might not even be Bell's Palsy, but some other type of facial paralysis. Not every facial paralysis is Bell's Palsy. There are other conditions which can cause facial paralysis like BP and sometimes BP is a misdiagnosis.
