40/9 = 5 weeks/month. 40/10 = 4 weeks/month. Every month actually has 4.5 weeks, but for the sake of argument they just say that it's 9 months. However, going by number of weeks is much more accurate.

∙ 14y agoWithout any intervention a baby could stay in the womb for over nine months. Most doctors wouldn't allow this to happen. The baby would be induced in a hospital.
Technically you are pregnant for 10 months since a pregnancy is 40 weeks long.

After the 40th week, the placenta begins to age, the oxygen supply to baby may decrease and the chance of infection increase dramatically. After the 40th week, the placenta will begin to age and not transport nutrition and oxygen as effectively as in the previous 40 weeks. If the baby does not have the proper nutrition or oxygen supply, health issues may occur.
