There has NEVER been a recorded death or hospitalization due to LSD overdose. LSD is an extraordinarily safe drug, in terms of addictiveness, and damage it does to the body. LSD has not been shown to damage any organ, or cause brain damage(don't listen to the Propaganda, listen to science). LSD does not remain in your body at all. Yes, you can have flashbacks, but they are merely that, flashbacks. The same flashbacks you have to your Grandma's 70th birthday party.
So, why is it illegal? The same reason any other 'soft' drugs are. The government felt like making them illegal.
In the United States, shrooms are illegal because they contain the Schedule I drug psilocybin.
Psilocybin/psilocin is also illegal in the UK and Canada.
However, the spores of shrooms alone are not illegal because they do not contain psilocybin, as this is produced when the mushroom grows.
It can't be for safety purposes, because the chemicals in magic mushrooms are safer and easier on the body than advil. And IF they were quality controlled by the government, there would be 0 chance of accidentally ingesting a poison mushroom.
I have heard it is because the government has not found a way in which they can gain a profit off of them, and is afraid of people's minds being opened by the hallucinogenic effects of them, which could lead to more questioning of why things are illegal.
I can find no reason why they should be illegal, other than the possibility of people operating vehicles while tripping. However, these rare occurances would happen whether or not shrooms are legalized.
Making a drug such as shrooms (safe drugs) illegal does NOT keep people safe, if anything it would make it more dangerous by chance of getting the wrong kind.
Wake up America, research on your own. Question EVERYTHING. ESPECIALLY things that the government tells you.
Not all psychoactive (or psychotropic) drugs are illegal. There are many drugs on the market that effect brain function. The difference between these and what we know as "street drugs" is that they are designed to enhance normal brain function in order that a person with a medical condition can live a more comfortable and productive life; whereas the drugs sold on the street for entertainment purposes interfere with normal brain function.
It is now possible, with brain imaging, to see the human brain at work and to map the firing of the neurons in the various parts of the brain. Each part of the brain should show activity in the "normal" range during certain given tasks: speaking, sleeping, moving the body, reasoning, reading, dreaming, thinking creatively, etc. A person with a brain disorder (what is commonly know as "mental illness"), epilepsy, or brain damage, will show abnormal firing in one or more areas of their brain. As more and more information is collected, new drugs are formulated to try to restore healthy functioning.
It is also possible with brain imaging to see the effects of illegal drugs and alcohol on brain function. These live images show abnormalities which may or may not become permanent. Unless administered under the guidance of a doctor, there can be grave consequences to experimenting with psychoactive drugs.
Some medicinal psychoactive drugs still being tested in the US are illegal until proven safe for medical use through the rigorous testing of the FDA. This can be frustrating for those who are seeking an effective treatment, but it is designed to protect patients from undesirable and/or dangerous side-effects.
[Please note: I am not a doctor. I am not connected with any pharmaceutical company whatsoever, nor do I have any connection with the FDA.]
Yes, before February 1st, 1966 in the United States shrooms were unregulated.
Shrooms are illegal homie
Yes, but doing so would be illegal and could lead to severe legal consequences. Thus, growing shrooms at home is strongly discouraged.
You shouldn't buy them where they are illegal. Where they are legal, up to $30 for 3.5g is fair (but less when purchased in bulk).
Yes. Salvia and Medical Marijuana are pretty much the only legal drugs here.
No, but shrooms can be tested for in an extended drug test.
