The flat paper has more surface area, allowing it to catch more air and float. The crumpled paper on the other hand, does not, because it doesn't have as much surface area to spread the air out.

the crumpled piece of paper has a smaller exposed surface than the flat piece of paper, thus the crumpled piece of paper has lesser air resistance which caused it to fall down quicker than the flat piece of paper.

Weight.

The ball is heavier than the sheet of paper so gravity pulls harder on the ball.

Also, the paper has a larger surface area causing it to be less aerodynamic so instead of falling down it floats down

The above is totally wrong. A ball falls faster than a sheet of paper because a ball has less air resistance. However, in a vaccuum, the ball and sheet of paper would hit the ground at the same time.

Both the crumpled ball of paper and the flat sheet of paper must push through the air as they fall. The sheet of paper has much more size to have to push through the air, so falls slower.

Air resistance slows the paper down. However - if the experiment was conducted in a vacuum - they would both hit the ground at the same time.

If you cut out a small piece of paper and stand on a chair next to your door and place the 3cm - 4cm piece of paper on the top of the door crack, close the door gently but not fully. When or if someone comes in your room they will open the door and the piece of paper will fall to the ground silently and the trespasser won't even know. Sneaky huh??? When you come back to your room if someone has been in then you will have the piece of paper on the ground!!!
