First of all, it wasn't Parkinsons, whihc eveyrone assumes. She said in her biography that it was a neck tic she inherited from her uncle, or someone. She even said "I found that whiskey makes it stop, but if I take too much, it stops evyerthing else too." [something along those lines]

Katherine Hepburn developed what is called 'essential tremor' in the 1970's - it is often confused with Parkinson's Disease but is more common and more mysterious. It is thought to be caused by a toxin that is released in the brain however even though it causes significant disabling in many patients it is not fatal.
