# How many cups in 14.5 oz can?

It depends. Most 14.5 ounce cans are measured by weight, not by volume so the old answer would be incorrect all the way around. A cup of diced tomato is a different weight than say a cup of green beans.

It would depend on the product in the can. The best way to know for certain is to read the nutritional label on the back of the can. It should say something like:

Serving size: ____ cup

Knowing this, you can estimate how many cups are in the can. For example one which says the serving size is 1/2 cup and the servings per container are about 3.5, then you can estimate that there is 1 3/4 cups in the can.

Your answer may turn out equal to the old answer by coincidence (I used their answer as the basis for my example), but again it depends on what the product is.

There are 8 fluid ounces in a cup. Your 14.5 ounce can holds about 1.8 cups, or a little more than 1 and 3/4ths cups.
