For the most part, the expiry date is very accurate, but there is a possibility that the product may last a bit longer. You are taking a chance no matter how long after the expire date you choose to open/consume the product. Of course, the longer after the expiry date, the more chance you have of ingesting something that could be potentially fatal.

It is usually best to discard the product a couple of days prior to the expiration date.

There are some exceptions to this rule. For example, a box of Kraft Dinner, the expiration date is for the content that would expire first. In this particular example, it would be the powdered cheese, however, the noodles would still be consumable up to 1 year after the expiration date on the box. Just don't eat the cheese.

The short answer to your question is : No, it is not safe to use unopened chicken broth a few days or months after the recommended expiry date. It is very risky.

That will depend upon how long it has been unrefrigerated.

Potentially hazardous food should not be left at room temperature for more than two hours or no more than one hour if the ambient temperature is very warm (around 90°F). At that point, it should be reheated or refrigerated.

No, when talking chicken, if you question its safety, don't eat it, it isn't worth it. Also this sort of time frame, definitely a NO. Throw both away

"Raw chicken should not be used if it has been in your fridge more than 24 hours. Cooked chicken (regardless of how it is prepared) shouldn't be eaten after 48 hours in the fridge."

It might last longer, but it should be used within a week. If you are not going to use it within that time, freeze it.

Yes, but it may not be necessary. Most types of commercial chicken broth can be kept in food cupboards until opened. After opening, store in fridge.
