He finally proved himself worthy to them, showing that Bilbo could actually get away from the goblins. Before they all thought he was incapable to go on an adventure and get all the gold ,therefore they have a good opinion on him.

Well what alternatives did he have? Standing out in the rain and cold? Nah. But it was fortunate that he accompanied them in, because if he hadn't, he would never have discovered The Ring.

It was also Bilbo's squeak that gave Gandalf enough time to avoid capture and save everyone else.

Because they realized that he did make a great burglar after all, and that he wasn't quite as stupid as they thought he was. Expecially after he saved their lives multiple times.
