Why did jacob imprint on renesmee in breaking dawn?

In Breaking Dawn, this is what Stephanie Meyer writes that describes how Jacob sees Renesmee, and how imprinted wolves see the object of their imprinting.

It is also described earlier, when Jacob first sees Renesmee. This is in Jacob's point of view instead of Bella's.

Jacob had always had a strong atraction to Bella but that was because of Renesmee. Jacob imprinted on Renesmee because they were ment to be together. Even if wolves did not have the ability to imprint Jacob and Renesmee would have ended up together because they are perfect for each other.

There is no actual reason why werewolf imprint on specific people. Werewolf's in general imprint to keep on the blood line going so the next generation has werewolfs for protection from vampires.

Once an werewolf, or in Jacob's case a shape-shifter, imprints it is impossible for them to forget about it. If something happens to Renesmee, Jacob will not be able to live with himself.

Also, it is a rule in Jacob's pack that no one can kill another packs imprint (person they imprinted on) because that would mentally destroy them and no one wants to do that to any pack member so she is untouchable by the rest of the pack.

And that is also why Jacob had a "pull" to Bella because she would one day have Renesmee. Also the same thing with Sam and Emily.

If you want a more boring answer as to why Jacob imprinted on Renesmee it's also because it gives the pack a good reason to stop trying to kill Renesmee. The author could of picked any of the shape shifters who didn't already have an imprint but I'm sure it wouldn't of been as funny as Jacob imprinting on her. Plus it does make sense for Jacob to be the one imprinting because of what the above person said about Jacob having this connection with Bella.

it means that they are meant to be toogether. Jacob automatically is in love with renesme forever and he will never be able to love anyone else. He also feels obligated to protect her. since renesme is way younger than Jacob, he must stay in the warewolf group and not retire from it because when he is still part warewolf, he won't age. So eventually Renesme will be able to catch up to him and they can live together happily.
