Why does Katniss ignore Haymitch Abernathy for going to cornucopia?

Katniss ignores Haymotch because they literally can't stay in the same room with each other. They yell and scream. And Haymitch thinks Katniss can't outsmart others. Peeta does most of the tricking and outsmarts people in the book he even outsmarts Katniss! I hope you enjoy the answer! God bless you and loves you!

∙ 12y agoThe Cornucopia is where The Hunger Games begin. When the tributes are released, many of them head for the supplies that are scattered about the Cornucopia.
Traditionally, the Cornucopia was where most tributes got killed by others vying for supplies. The supplies are very scant the further you travel from the Cornucopia. This is one way the Gamekeepers force tributes to get close to each other so they can guarantee battles for supplies.
Haymitch advises Katniss to head to the surrounding forest, thinking she will have a better chance at survival if she escapes the initial violence.

∙ 12y agoyes this is true because she saw a bow and arrow which could have only been laid out for her, when she caught a look at peeta who shook his head at her. This put her off and delayed her head start at running but she carried on any way, look just read the book, and after some deaths and fighting she did end up with a back pack of supplies and a plastic sheeth.

∙ 10y agoIf you mean the Cornucopia, it's because it was basically a bloodbath. All bunch of goodies such as customized weapons, survival kits, food, etc. is placed all around the Cornucopia and the tributes kill each other in order to try and get as much of the stuff as possible.

Haymitch’s reasoning for Katniss to leave and not go for supplies because majority of people die there in the beginning of the games. She had to go as far away as possible but in turn, she was sacrificing a lot of necessities such as her bow and arrow and food.
