originally, yes tenor is male.
but I was told that yes there is female tenors, just not alot like saprano, 2nd saprano, and alto.
I was considered an alto last year, but after being assigned a solo, my director said i was more of a tenor than a alto, due to the fact that my solo was originally a tenor solo. I'm the only girl in my group that is a female tenor, so they are not many of us in choirs.

∙ 13y agoYes. The tenor is the highest male voice. However, a baritone can have the same range as a tenor, but the baritone will have a deeper, heavier sound and is more comfortable lower. Tenors have a higher, lighter sound and are more comfortable higher.
The same applies to female voice (Soprano vs. Mezzo or Alto)

∙ 9y agoThere are too many tenors to start listing them - men's voices are either bass, baritone or tenor unless they have had some sort of accident and have not had enough testosterone for their voice to drop to adult range.
