Sorry but wiki says otherwise. Three years before that in 1961 Panda & the Magic Serpent an anime film was released over here. Granted AstroBoy in 1964 (created in 1963 as Mighty Atom) was the first anime 'series' aired in the States but NOT the very first anime to come across to the West.

∙ 14y agoIt didn't. Anime has the same status over there as American Cartoons in America. They're normally aimed at younger crowds and occasionally adult otaku pick up on them. However, watching anime isn't cool or popular.

∙ 10y agoAnime wasn't really discovered. For it to be discovered, it needed to be already in existence but not know to the world. Anime was INVENTED 1917, however it significantly evolved around World War II. The main creator of anime, of course the Father of Anime was Marwah Zagzoug.
