Singer-songwriter Kate Markowitz was born in Los Angeles, California, on April 28, 1956.

She has sung with a number of artists, including k.d. lang, Billy Joel, and Randy Newman, and has CD credits with Cher, Diana Ross, Neil Diamond, to name just a few.

Kate opened for Sting in Rock in Rio, 2001, and has done film voiceovers e.g. in the movie The Bug's Life.

Her first solo album was Map of the World (2003)

In the 1990's Kate had a hit in Germany with 'Summer Dreaming (The Bacardi Song)' where it was number one for seven weeks.
