The humour turned out to be that the fish was actually made of plaster of paris and was not a stuffed trout.

Information regarding 'a fishy story' a humorous story by jerome k jerome?

The humour in this story is how all the people come in the parlour and try to fool Jerome and George about how they caught the trout. Each of them gave differnt weights for the same fish. At last they call the landlord and narrate the funny ongoings. The landlord laughs it out and tells them that if they had caught it, why would they give it to him to display it in his pub? Then he says that he had caught the trout. They believe him but at last the truth is reveals when the trout case falls down and the case breaks up, the fish shaters into a thousand pieces. It was a Plaster of Paris model.

What is a shocking accident about By Graham Greene?

From another QA site: Greene's story, "A Shocking Accident" is about the tragedy of Jerome's father being killed by a falling pig. Before you think that the pigs in this story can fly, let me clarify that people in the city where Jerome's family lives keep their pigs in their homes, and the pig in question apparently fell from a balcony on to the unsuspecting man, thus taking his life. Jerome spends most of his life angry because the first reaction to this story--which should be, in his opinion, one of remorse and sadness since it is the story of his father's death--is laughter. Most peoplre react to the story as if it were some humorous joke, yet it is a tragic event in Jerome's life. Sally is the first person who reacts with the proper sadness and mourning Jerome has always felt the story requires, and so he falls immediately in love with her. The story is in a sense a coming of age story for Jerome. He is a completely different character when the story folds than when it began. Check out the links below for more details and further information on this intriguing tale.
