∙ 9y agoIn 1929 the first oscars were held. The best picture was given to "Wings" (which was also the only silent film to ever win an Academy Award for best picture), Best Director of a Dramatic Picture went to Frank Borzage, and Best Director for a Comedy Picture went to Lewis Milestone.
