This is to add detail to the question. The boy had a great smile. He could see out of the giant robot by a green screen in front of him. He found that he controlled the robot and his first moves resulted in a lot of damage to statues and bandstands in the park where he found the robot. It is good that he learned how to walk and move because a space alien arrived that was determined to destroy first this robot and then the earth. The robot command computer did communicate with the boy. And, of course, he was successful in defeating the big alien monster.
I would like to know the name of this movie in order to buy it.

The robot child ifs too whiney & freaky for the parents to take in as their own. so in a bleack smoggy future where you have to wear a gas mask to go outside, and couples are only allowed a single child, the parents break the law by secretly becoming pregnant again. The authorities finds out they escape to utopia
