Hagrid never owned a griffin.

However, he did own a group of ten hippogriffs. The only one which we know the name of is Buckbeak (temporarily renamed Withwings in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince).

Hagrid's main pet is Fang, his dog, however he does have some other 'pets' which some people may see as 'feared magical creatures'. For example, Fluffy, the three headed dog, featured in the first film, Philosophers Stone, and another pet in the first film was a Dragon egg, which eventually hatched and he named Norbert, before having to give her away for him to find out its actually a female dragon, re-named Nortberta.. Also, his other pet Acromantula (giant spider), named Aragog, featured in the second film Chamber of Secrets. In the third film, Prisoner of Azkaban, he has a Hippogriff named Buckbeak. :)

Hagrid's hippogriff was named Buckbeak, and he was sentenced to death after cutting Draco Malfoy's arm. Harry & Hermione went back in time to stop Buckbeak form being killed. Sirius Black escaped with Buckbeak.
