The first one to premiere was in 1977: Star Wars episode IV (4) A New Hope.
Episodes V (5) and VI (6) were released in 1980 and 1983.
The first in the storyline was released in 1999: Star Wars episode I (1) The Phantom Menace. Episodes II (2) and III (3) were released in 2002 and 2005.

The first Star Wars movie made (not the first in internal chronology) was originally just called "Star Wars". It was retroactively named "Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope" when the second movie ("Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back") was made.
The first in internal chronology (the fourth made) was "Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace".
