What is the average length of a movie?

Most movie scripts are 120 pages and a page translates to roughly a minute of film, hence most films being about just under 2 hours. It's quite genre dependent as comedies and animations are rarely more than 90 minutes, but summer blockbusters and thrillers are usually about 2 hours.

This project attempts to calculate an average. Though his claim is skewered by choosing the top 50 rated films, which I'd argue favours longer art movies over shorter genre movies.

The average movie is approximately 90-100 minutes long. There are however many anomalies with the minimum qualification for a full length film being 40 minutes, and the longest being an 87 hour movie.

Kid's movies and Animated movies are often about an hour and a half long

Adventure and Fantasy movies have been known to reach three hours (eg. The Lord of the Rings movies)

Most other movies are around two hours.
