if you could show or represent a sound audio wave on a graph or electronic instrument display,

it would be seen that the sound wave is changing over time. it will seem to be an osscilating signal which moves from a minimum level at lower setting to a maximum level at higher level

representation. this could also be described as a sine wave formation, for example.
