In Coraline's family's new flat are twenty-one windows and fourteen doors. Thirteen of the doors open and close.

The fourteenth is locked, and on the other side is only a brick wall, until the day Coraline unlocks the door to find a passage to another flat in another house just like her own.

Coraline is about this girl that has parents that dont pay attention to her and pays more attention to their work more than her. Then she finds this little door behind a box and it leads to a diffrent world that is better than hers.

Coraline is a young girl who has recently moved house with her mother and father. Her parents pay very little attention to Coraline, and are usually so caught up in work, that they forget she is there. One day Coraline was exploring her new room, and found a small, mysterious door. She had already been warned by the mice upstairs that she was in great danger and under any circumstances, don't go through a small door. Coraline thinks they are speaking nonsense and ignores the speaking mice from upstairs. She goes through the door and ends up in what looked like her own house. It had the same hallway, and the same coloured walls. She made her way through the house and ended up in the kitchen. In the kitchen was her mother, cooking what smelt like the most delicious dinner Coraline could ever think of. Her mother turned round and gave Coraline a warm welcome. We have been waiting for you her mother said, but as the lady turned round, she realised that it wasn't her mum at all. Because she spoke the same, looked the same, and was wearing the same clothes as she was wearing earlier, but instead of eyes, had 2 big, black, shiny, round buttons. You're not my mother! Coraline protested, The lady laughed, No, Silly, I am your other mother! Do you like it here? the lady said. Yes, said Coraline. You can stay here if you want, said the other mother.She gave Coraline a box, and told her to open it. If you want to stay, you are more than welcome. She opened the box. There was a needle, and to black buttons. Coraline gasped. But you have to let us take out your eyes and sew buttons there instead, her mother calmly said. It's part of the family tradition. No! screamed Coraline and started running for the door. She felt a hand on her shoulder, and turned round. The other mother had turned into a skinny, wicked looking lady, she had turned into a witch. She was trying to trick her into joining the sad and upsetting life they led. She ran o the door escaping the witch's grip, she climbed through the door, and was relived to be back at home. She ran to her fathers office, there was no one there. All she had to do now was find her parents. She needed help, and she knew who she could get it from...
