Well, Sandy first met SpongeBob in the episode "Tea at the Treedome". She was Wrestling a giant clam, and thinking she was in trouble, SpongeBob went to rescue her, instead ending up inside the clam himself. Sandy's reaction to that seemed to be one of shock and surprise. She then yelled out "Hold on little square dude!", and proceeded to rescue the 'rescuer'. After that, they became very fast friends, Sandy going so far as to say "I like you SpongeBob" and they could be "tighter than bark on a tree'', as they talked with each other for the first time.
