He died when sealing the kyuubi into his son. Minato's last name is not Uzumaki, but that was the last name of Naruto Uzumaki's mother. Naruto's parents were not married.

∙ 14y agoMinato was the fourth Hokage and Naruto's Dad, he was known as the yellow flash because he had a teleport jutsu which made him famous, he made appereances in the Kakashi gaiden, Jiraiya's flashback when Jiraiya gets killed, and when the seal almost breaks completely, Minato died when he sealed the demon fox with a forbiden jutsu, although he just sealed the Yang chakra of the fox in naruto, the yin was eaten by the soul reaper that is summoned by that jutsu, Minato named Naruto because of a book that Jiraiya wrote called "the legend of the gutsy ninja", although this book was a failure, Minato and Kushina(Naruto's mother), liked the character and the name, so they named it after that character with Jiraiya's permision, PS. guys sorry to erase al that info that was before, i just wanted to make it shorter and simpler as posible, sorry

∙ 13y agoWell, Minato's real name is Yondiame Minato, and his name means Yellow Flash in Japanese.
(Different person) Not to be mean or anything but that is not his real name... His real name is Minato Namikaze, which is translated somewhere along the lines of Harbor Waves and Wind. Yondaime mearly means "4th" or in the series "4th Hokage." Yellow Flash was just a nickname and never had anything to do with his real name.
