Who are the nine Akatsuki?

Akatsuki is an organization consisting of rogue shinobi from all sorts of villages. Akatsuki's goal is to collect all the Bijuu, or Tailed-Beasts. The leader of Akatsuki is Pain, however Tobi (aka Uchiha Madara) is the actual shadow leader and mastermind.

Madara reveals that he set up Akatsuki to collect all the Bijuu and revive the legendary Juubi (or Ten-Tails), which is a fusion of all 9 Bijuu. After becoming the Juubi's host, he will have enough power to preform Mugen Tsukuyomi which will cause a world-wide tsukiyomi.

The Akatsuki members are:

• Sasori (dead, killed by Sakura and Granny Chiyo)
• Itachi Uchiha (dead, killed for revenge by Uchiha Sasuke,Itachi planned his death and let Sasuke kill him)
• Kisame (dead, killed by Gai in Kumogakure)
• Pain [Nagato] (dead, killed due to chakra overuse when reviving all of Konoha).
• Konan (dead, Madara killed her after she refuses to give him the location of Nagato's body after she leaves Akatsuki)
• Hidan (restrained, in pieces, underground and slowly dying)
• Kakuzu (dead, killed by Naruto and Kakashi)
• Deidara (dead, killed by Sasuke after using CO)
• Zetsu
• Tobi [Uchiha Madara]
• Orochimaru (dead, Itachi killed him with Susano'o in his battle with Sasuke, thus stripping Sasuke of his curse mark)

Kabuto later revives most members using Edo tensei (impure world resurrection) when he allies himself with Madara in preparation for the fourth ninja war.
