Yes, the film The Conjuring is based on the real life case of Perron family in Rhode Island in 1971. Roger and Carolyn Perron, along with their 5 children, maintain to this day that the house is haunted. They lived there for ten years before the ghost of the witch Bathseba drove them away. Bathseba hated Carolyn and lusted after Roger. Ed and Lorraine Warren were the actual paranormal investigators on the case.

The films concept began over 20 years prior to its release when Ed Warren played a tape of Lorraine's Warrens original interview with Carolyn Perron for the producer Tony DeRosa-Grund. At the end of the tape Grund announces that the tape on its own would provide enough material to make a film of claimed events
