Yes. Lord Voldemort, aka Tom Riddle opened the Chamber of Secrets 50 years ago. He then sealed his memory into a diary (also a Horcrux) which was given to Ginny Weasley. Tom Riddle possessed Ginny Weasley and opened the Chamber again.

I do not think so but he was a true Gryffindor because he pulled the sword out of the hat, remember when Dumbledore was all " Only a true Gryffindor could have pulle that out of the hat"?

I had wondered the same thing part way through the series, but the answer turned out being no. Harry was however, distantly related to Salazar Slytherin. There is a family tree available at Wikipedia. See the related link below.

One thing that we can correctly establish is the fact that both Voldemort and Harry Potter are the descendants of the Peverells. Harry's ancestry line branches from Ignotus Peverell and Voldemort's one is from Cadmus Peverell. Salazar Slytherin came into existence after Cadmus Peverell, and therefore you can say that Harry Potter is a distant relative of Slytherin. But however, there is also a possibility of Harry being related to Godric Gryfinddor and possibily he may be the direct heir of Godric Gryffindor himself. Godric Gryffindor as you all know, was born in the same place where Ignotus Peverell lived before, and since power/potential is a trait that could be passed by genetic transfer, I would say Godric Gryffindor may be the heir of Ignotus Peverell himself and hence Harry is more appropriate to be said; the heir of Godric Gryffindor.

Harry potter is related to slytherin thanks to a potter marrying a peverel which means he is also related to the blacks and the weaslys

Yes Harry is the chosen one, but it could have been Neville Longbottom.

There has not been a mention of an heir of gryffindor in any of the books. The bloodline probably died out.
