The Joker doesn't die because if you watch at the end batman uses his grappling gun and ties him upside down. Two-Face/Harvey Dent is the one who dies at the end of The Dark Knight he dies when batman dives for Commissioner Gordon's son.

∙ 11y agoNo. The SWAT team find Batman's handy work of the Joker hanging upside down by his feet. However its highly likely that the Joker would be Prosecuted and Sentenced to Death.
I think that they wouldn't have sentenced the Joker to death because that is the easy way out, so I think that they shut him away in some remote place that has top security or something.
