Sort of, he didn't like other peoples dogs (more specifically Elizabeth Taylor's) because he didn't know how they were trained or what their temperament was, he had no problems with his dogs obviously because he knew what they were like.

He had one as a child, a mutt called Blackgirl, and then he developed a fear of them, somewhere down the line he overcame his fear because he had one called Spanky which was in a range of soft toys that were made featuring his various animals, he also had two called Shadow and Sasha for a while, and he bought a dog for his children a while back. It could be that he didn't like small dogs or Elizabeth's little one because they can very highly strung and quite nasty/snappy.
Yes, he had a few pet dogs over the years.

No he had no cats but he had a zoo full of animals, which contained, a monkey - bubbles, lions, lioness's, and much more he loveed all animals so yes he probably liked cats.
