Usually a career is a long-lasting or lifelong occupation, whereas a job is a more general term, and usually isn't lifelong. For example, a career could be a doctor or scientist, whereas a job could be the President of the Unites States, because the president can only serve a certain number of years. if you look in the dictionary, a job is also defined as a task or assignment, which could be why the word job implies a shorter-term occupation than a career.

Hi,

A career is a job where the worker earns money - but it is something that not everybody could do. For example, Dancing is a career in the arts - not everybody can do it. It is something you work towards and study for.

A job is slightly different. A job is something anybody could do, like working as a shop keeper. Although there are certain qualities a shop keeper may need that not everybody may have - it is generally classed as a job. :)

A job is the work one does. One's career includes the job or jobs one has which are related to one goal and vocation one wants to spend the rest of one's life doing. For example, one may have a job as a salesperson and then promote to sales manager. Both jobs come under the umbrella of a career in sales.

a career is something you need to go to college or get a degree for like a teacher and a job is what you don't have to get a degree or go to college for!

ex. for career

  • teacher
  • marines
  • air-force
  • technician

and so forth

ex. for a job

  • working at a fast food restaurant
  • servant
  • cashier

and so forth
A job is usually something temporary that you don't necessarily have a passion for, but you've got it to pay the bills. A career is the field in which you make your living for most of you life, and hopefully enjoy doing it.
A job is something you are doing.

A career is a job as part of a long-term plan for most of you working life.

A job is when a company hires you to work, but there is no growth in the position and the pay isn't there. For example let's say you work at MCdonalds flipping Hamburgers. You would not say that is a career because why would you want to stay at MCdonalds your whole life flipping burgers.

Careers is the opposite. You remain at that position and can continue that position at different companies. For example, you just graduated from school with an accounting degree and want to be an account. First you would start off with an entry level position as an accounting clerk and work there for many years. Let's say you have been working at Company A for 3 years and you want to be the accountant, but they don't want to hire you. You want to broaden your horizons by being the account,so you will see a lot of accountant positions in various companies that will hire you based on your accounting clerk experience.
