Hi,
I thought it's attached to the side of the distributor. I may be wrong but I think that's where it is. I have a '94 with the 3.8 because I've considered buying the high performance one bout it's about $55.00 so I don't know, I haven't decided yet because it's still a bit too cold for doing most outside work here in MA.If I'm wrong please correct me. Thanks Steve H.
The 1995 Ford Ranger ignition module can be found on the firewall in the engine compartment. The ignition module will be on the drivers side of the firewall.
It is located on the left fender.
it is inside the steering collar
On the bottom side of the engine( front of the car) just below the exhause manifold. It is easiest to remove the mounting plate from the body of the engine, as balancing the coils on the module as you remove and insert screws if a real pain in the but. If anyone has any suggestions on waterproofing this area, I would greatly appreciate it, as I have gone through three of these modules in three years due to water getting into it and shorting the module out. This last time it was a coolant leak around a seal on the top of the water pump, spraying right into the module that caused it. Argh!
Regarding a model 1997,2 liter sonata, there is not an ignition control module as such. Ignition control comes from the ECM (ELECTRONIC CONTROL UNIT) through the Ignition Power Transistor (often called Igniter) and then to the Ignition coil.I do not have any information on the 1.8 or the 3.0 liter models.

Defective ignition switch.
If you trying to figure out what parts you can use between the years it depends on what your are using from the other trucks, some parts can even be swapped between makes, like a Buick ignition module will probably work, you need more info to clarify what you are trying to find out

The ignition control module for a 1995 ford f150 is an important part of the drive train. If the module is failing then the engine will run erratically or not start at all.
I'm not sure if your Ranger is the same , but on my 1995 Explorer with a similar dash the GEM is in the center stack of the dash , to the left of the radio On a 1997 Ford Ranget 4x4 the Gem module is located as stated above. Behind the radio and to the left.
Disconnect the battery. Remove the ignition coils. Remove the ignition control module that was under the coils, and replace it.
