The easiest way to reset your car alarm system is to remove the car alarm system fuse. You can also remove the positive cable from the battery. In both cases return the component to its original position after 10 seconds.

∙ 8y agoThis is a highly specialized question. Due to the enormous variety of anti-theft systems, there is no one answer. Check your owner's manual, online at the manufacturers website, or from the dealer/store you bought it at.
many times simply removing the negative cable(black-) from its terminal and reattaching it will reset the alarm and in many cases,your cars computer system.
For my particular car, I had to turn the ignition on for ten minutes, turn it off for five seconds, repeat twice, then, on the third time, turn the ignition on, wait seven seconds, then turn to start. Each car is different. I suggest you go to All-Data. Their web address is http://www.alldatadiy.com . (The 'diy' means 'Do It Yourself'.) This is the site just about all auto repair mechanics use, (even the dealerships,) and it makes a Chilton or Hanes auto manual look like a cartoon book. They cover everything from recalls to bulletins to every aspect of repair you can think of, including the alarm system re-learn procedure. The cost is about $20 or $25 for the first vehicle and about $16 for each additional vehicle and the subscription is good for a year. (Commercial subscriptions are about $150/month, I think.) DEFINATELY worth the cost if you are going to do ANYTHING to your car. See for yourself.
ANSWER: If your having problems with the anti-theft not allowing your 1997 Malibu to start you can jack up your car and jump the starter Then turn key in ignition till starter catches. Leave car running for about 20 min and light will off.

a factory Nissan alarm system.
Normally, you would insert the key in
the drivers door, turn left, then right
to disarm and reset it. If yours is malfunctioning,
you can disable it for good by doing the following:
The FACTORY ALARM DISARM WIRE IS
white/blue |-| at the door lock switch in
the drivers door. Meter these wires while turning the
key in the driver door key cylinder.
Once Located, splice into this wire with
a similar guage wire, and put it to
a solid chassis ground. This terminates
the alarm functions entirely.
However, at this point, this car would be exceedingly
easy to steel, so I suggest you get an aftermarket
alarm system to protect it from here on in.

When you put the right key in, all the tumblers are put in the right place and all the sensors are then turned off so the car will start. There is not an inertia switch on this car. The fuel system is computer controlled with relays. So you need to stat with checking for codes, check fuses, etc.

Place the key into the ignition. Turn the key to the auxiliary position, without starting the engine. Keep the key in the auxiliary position for 30 seconds. This should reset your antitheft system.
