Try removeing the battery connections, and cleaning them. Often, the symptoms you describe occur when the battery connections have corroded. use jumper cables and another vechile jumping to your battery, if it starts, then it is battery related

First check both connections at the battery and if connections are good then it would be a faulty starter solenoid.

ANS 2 - If it clicks that's usually a sign the solenoid IS working, but voltage is not getting to the starter. This can be a loose or oily connection at the starter, a worn or ineffective Bendix spring, or a burnt out starter. Even a starter not making good ground to the engine block can cause this symptom.

My 94 Chevrolet S10 will not start it makes a clicking sound when the key is turned from inside the cockpit. Is there a relay or fuse that could be the problem and not the starter or solenoid?

If the starter is clicking when you turn the key then the relay is not the problem, more likely is the battery and starter wire connections. Take them off and clean them before putting them back on ( have the battery checked ) corrosion will cause the symptom you described, however there should be a starter relay in the engine compartment fuse panel. If the truck is a standard transmission, it could be the Neutral safety switch, which is located under the clutch pedal. However, most likely it is the solenoid on the starter, I just had the same problem, time for a new starter.

Your 94 Ford escort lx 1.9l wont start but all the lights on dash and radio come on is your starter out or if not what could be wrong?

Actually, if the battery is bad it will click or turn over very slowly. If all the electronics work and there is no noise, it is the starter. Take a small hammer and tap very lightly on the starter (sometimes there is a label on the starter, aim there). This is only tempary and you will eventually need to replace the unit. i had this same problem with my ford fiesta the lights and radio still worked but it did not make another sound. it just needs a new battery. hope this is helpfull

Why would a Integra LS 1989 that usually runs fine suddenly not start no engine noise only clicking could this be the timing or starter motor?

I have had the same problem with my teg. my mate has had the same problem with his prelude. I think it may be computer related. I have found that by turning the key very slowly just before it clicks seems to solve it. I don't undeestand why, but this works for me. This first started happening at about 240000kms Your problem is the solenoid in the starter motor. I had the same problem and got my starter reconditioned for $200au. starts first go every time now

Truck not starting just making clicking sounds. the starter has been changed but it still wont start what could the problem be?

A low or dead battery will have this effect. There is enough juice in the battery to activate the solenoid in the starter (causing the clicking sound), but not enough to turn over the engine. A jump start or a replacement battery may be needed if the battery is no longer capable of holding enough of a charge even when being jumped.

1998 Plymouth Breeze and the car won't start but the lights and everything work?

It could be the starter.. It could be several things. There are shops that will diagnose the problem without charging you. I would call a couple shops and ask if they provide that service. Or they may charge a small fee.

Dash lights not working at night sometimes not starting clicking?

check the wiring connections at the battery and the starter. Both places can give starting problems. The dash lights could be a separate problem. Check the fuses for the lights.

Clicking and will not start?

Could be the battery is drained or bad. Could be battery connections at battery and or starter are dirty and or loose. Could be starter solenoid is bad. Could be starter is bad.

The dash lights come on but the engine won't start?

If the dash lights come on, but the engine won't start, check the starter. There could also be a problem with the fuel line or the spark plugs. If the engine turns over, but won't start, check all of the fuel sensors. If the motor has a clicking or buzzing sound, check the alternator.

If car just is clicking but does not start is that a starter problem?

it could be the starter or it could just be a bad battery, try to jump start the vehicle with another vehicle with jumper cables or a jumpbox, if the vehicle starts, most likely it is the battery. It is still a good idea to get the starter checked out.

Your 1998 ford escort zx2 won't start it just clicks?

your battery is flat Could be that your starter is dead. The clicking is the starter solenoid. That's a good thing that it is at least clicking. Replace the starter.

COULD BE THE FUZES OR THE STARTER IS BAD .i HAD THE SAME PROBLEM FOR A 92 TRACKER AND I JUST CHANGED THE FUZES ....BUT THEM I HAD TO REPLACE THE STARTER .CHECK THE EASY THINGS FIRST ..

What if your Dodge Stratus won't start and makes a clicking noise?

Probably it's a low battery, though it could be a bad starter. You are probably hearing the starter solenoid clicking.

Clicking sound when turning key?

A clicking sound when you turn the key could mean your battery is dead. It could also indicate the starter is going out.
