If you are meaning clues that the police officers found to charge the murderer, here are some I came up with:

Clues collected for the murder of the old man:

v The shriek heard in the night that led the police officers to investigate the house.

v The confession from the young man that was arrested on the charge of murdering the old man.

v The young man being openly afraid and disgusted by 'evil eyes'. This gives a motive for the murder.

v The tool used the dismembered the corpse. This could be checked for fingerprints.

v The knowledge of the house; the floorboards that were torn up and the finding of a suitable weapon to cut up the body.

Clues collected by the police officers at the scene:

v The scraping of the chair against the floorboards in the place of the old man's dismembered corpse indicating knowledge of the body lying there.

v The rapid increase in volume and speed of the suspect's speech, showing his conscience and realisation of the crime he had just committed.

The narrator in The Tell-Tale Heart is the murderer of the old man (he had weird eye movement that the narrator despised). The narrator also claims that he is not insane, though he could be possibly paranoid. In the end, when the police come in to investigate (because a neighbor had heard the screaming of the old man being murdered and notified the police), the narrator simply tells them that the screams were from him, having a bad dream. Strangely, the narrator is calm with the policemen in the house, but because of the narrator burying the remains of the old man under the floorboards, he hears a heart beating. He believes that it is the old man's heart, beating thus pressuring him to confess. However, it could have been the narrator's heart, or that he was paranoid; therefore, no sound was heard at all. Either way, the narrator gave up and confessed that he killed the old man and hid his remains under the floorboards.

The narrator tells them, and in fact tells the police, when he can no longer stand the sound, which we know exists solely in his mind.

How did the narrator get caught in The Tell-tale Heart by Edgar Allan Poe?

The narrator had cut up the old man's body and hidden it under the floorboard of the parlor. Three policemen come to the house because there were reports of screams in the area just to do a routine check. The narrator invites them in and while talking with them he thinks he hears the old man's heart beating and believes the policemen also hear it. Since he cannot stand the guilt in his conscience caused by the beating heart and since he believes the police know about the body anyway, he confesses his crime to them.

The narrator invited him to stay and put the chair over the where he put the body.
