The starter is attached by 2 bolts.

First, unhook the battery.

Next, the thing to the left of the battery holder is the cruise control. You need to move that out of the way to give you room to work.

There are 2 bolts on the starter. Try to soak with WD-40 to loosen them up. If you can loosen both bolts with a wrench or rachet set, unhook all the wires attached to the starter and remember where they came from.

The new starter will bolt on the exact same way.

Reattach the wires and put back the cruise control and battery holder, as well as the battery.

These bolts could be stipped if you dont use high quality six sided cup. If they in the process they are stipped get Craftman extractor cups which work flawlessly and install new high grade bolts with washers. These extractor extract the bolt instantly and extremely easy.

1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Disconnect positive battery cable at the starter. 2. Disconnect remaining electrical connections at the starter soleniod. 3. Remove the nuts and or bolts holding the starterr to the bell housing and pull the starter towards the front of the vehicle. Intallation in reverse, but make sure that the starter drive teeth are engaged with the flywheel teeth... You will have a very tight space in this job and you might need to modify some wrenches to do the job easier...

1. Disconnect battery connectors, or at least the positive side.2. Disconnect the connections on the starter, should be 2. 1 is a locking push on connector the other has a nut. 3. Remove the bolts that hold the starter to the engine. On the V6 there are 2 bolts, top and bottom. On the 4 cly there can be 3 of them, top bottom and out to the side.4. Here you have to make a judgment call depending on the type of vehicle. Some, like the 4 cyl 4 wheel drive model, will allow you to easily remove out the bottom. The V6 4 wheel drive model allows you to remove out the wheel well above the suspension arm. This is a tight fit and you need to turn it just so to get it to fit.5 reinstall the same way you removed.

If it is like my 98 Camry, the starter is sitting right on top of the transmission. Should be 2 bolts and 1 wire to unhook. It is not very big so you have to really look for it.
