How does phosphate levels affect the alkalinity of water?

High Alkalinity will keep your pool water on the higher end of the pH scale, or more basic rather than acidic. High Alkalinity is not terrible but there are two things that can happen. If the water is constantly basic a "scale" can develop. The other thing that can happen is you will notice your pool will get cloudy when you add pH increaser, alkalinity increaser or calcium hardness increaser when either one of those three are on the high side already.

Why might cloudy water be indicative of an upcoming earthquake?

cloudy water has high sediment content, which may indicate an upcoming earthquake

Baking soda was added to my pool and ever since the pool is still cloudy even after shock treatment. It is also sudding up What is wrong?

I know the whole key to keeping a pool clean is balance. PH and alkalinity affect the chlorine, chlorine affects the PH and alkalinity. Get and keep the PH and alkalinity balanced and the rest should be easy. If the PH is too high chlorine will no work. Why was baking soda intorduced? Key to cloudy water is filtration along with proper chem. balance. Extend the run time on the pump by8 to 12 hrs and within a day you will see why you have extended the run time.

Clear a cloudy pool when the chlorine is high and pH range is normal?

# Test the swimming pool water for Combined Chlorine, pH, Alkalinity and Calcium Hardness. The two areas that are most likely to cause cloudy pool water are the pH and the Calcium Hardness. # If the pool chemical levels are not within the following suggested ranges, adjust the chemicals and run the pool filter system for 12-24 hours before re-testing. Free Chlorine: 1-3 ppm, pH: 7.2 - 7.6, Alkalinity: 90 - 120 ppm and Calcium Hardness: 200 - 350 ppm. # If all the pool chemical levels test in range, the cloudy pool water is caused by fine debris suspended in the pool water. You should backwash or clean your pool filter following the manufacturer's instructions, and run the pool filter system continuously for 24 to 48 hours. # If the water conditions have not significantly improved you should add a clarifier pool chemical to the pool water to help your pool filter remove the fine debris from the water. Continue filtering for 12 to 24 hours. # If the water conditions have not significantly improved you should add a second dose of clarifier, or a stronger clarifier chemical and continue to run your filtration system. # Sometimes a pool can be too cloudy for a clarifier. If this is the case you will have to move up to a floc. This will drop any suspended particles to the floor so you can vacuum it to waste. = It is common for pool water to become cloudy immediately after adding products to adjust the pool pH or Alkalinity. = If your pool water became cloudy within 6-8 hours of adjusting the pH or Alkalinity, continue circulating your water and it should clear within 24 hours as the water adjusts to the CHANGES YOU'VE MADE Suhail IsmailGENTECH UAE

What is PH up?

High alkalinity

What causes high pH levels in pools?

The nature of gunite pools is the make up of the gunite - it has lime in it. It has high alkaline levels. Also, the make up water may have high levels of alkalinity. Adjust your pH and adjust as needed with muratic acid and monitor your alkalinity by using a test kit.

How is calcium precipitated?

Calcium and carbonate (a component of alkalinity) can precipitate from the water column if the product of the concentration of each of them rises too high.

Is high pH levels in pool harmful?

High Ph or high alkalinity in pool water makes the water "hard" and leads to "scaling" or calcium buildup on pool walls and equipment. Over a long period, alkaline water can be harmful to equipment and create a film of calcification on tile or pool walls. As far as harm to people, high Ph makes the water feel "slimey" and it is easier to slip on steps or the floor of the pool. It can dry out skin and feel ichy. In contrast to high acidity- high alkalinity seems to cause less skin discomfort. Each pool is an ecosystem and needs to find a balance...one person's pool could be in fine balance at 7.8 while another is better at 7.2

What do i do if Ph is low alkalinity is low chlorine level is fine in pool?

add some form of alkalinity booster for sure. bring it too about 110ppm, chlorine has a naturally high pH, but the higher alkalinity addition will stop acidic compounds from attacking the pH any further. depending on how low the pH is though you may have to add a pH booster, take your water into a pool shop for an in depth water analysis.

Why did your pool water turn green immediately after adding pH plus?

Your pool water turned green immediately after adding pH Plus because the chemical had increased the pH level to high. You may need to adjust the alkalinity levels of the water using another pool chemical such as pH Minus of pH Alkalinity Plus.

Add acid in pool?

acid is added to a pool when alkalinity is too high. Take a sample of pool water to your pool shop and have it tested by them. they will tell you what is required.
