You star as "Foggy" Nelson in Netflix's new show "Daredevil." You've said before that you're excited to play Foggy because he's not just a useless sidekick or comic relief but rather, he has his own path and his own things he's dealing with. How is Nelson's storyline different from Mark Murdock's (the Daredevil's) storyline?

The main difference is Foggy doesn't believe violence is the answer to injustice. Foggy very much believes in the law, and doing things "the right way". In some ways Foggy is a little more naive than Matt, and he has to learn some hard lessons about humanity and how dark it can be.

You filmed for "Daredevil" in New York City. Can you describe the preparation process involved in creating the dark world of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) out of the atmosphere of NYC?

The preparation process was simple for me. I left it to the professionals, i.e. creator, show runner. Drew Goddard and Steve DeKnight did an incredible job of making NYC another character in Daredevil. In my opinion NYC is the heart and soul of the show.

You must have worked closely with Charlie Cox as he stars as Mark Murdock, Nelson's closest friend and fellow lawyer. What was it like to work with Charlie Cox?

Working with Charlie was inspiring. He's incredibly smart and understands every aspect of the production process. He's one of the hardest working actors I've ever met, he told me he went to the gym for three hours every day before shooting, he told me this while i was stuffing doughnuts down my face!! He's also just a great guy. He really looked out for me, the same way Matt looks out for Foggy.

What do you think of Charlie's portrayal of the Daredevil?

I was blown away by Charlie's portrayal of Daredevil. As an actor, I rely heavily on my eyes as a tool for emoting, how Charlie was able to bring such depth to his character without that tool is truly remarkable. I always try to learn as much as I can from the actors around me, and I consider myself incredibly lucky to have a front row seat to his lesson.

You also spent time working with the rest of the stacked Daredevil cast: Deborah Ann Woll, Rosario Dawson, Bob Gunton, Vondie Curtis Hall, Toby Leonard Moore, Ayelet Zurer and Vincent D'Onofrio. What was the dynamic like between everyone on set?

The dynamic on set was great. It's a joy to go to work everyday with actors that I respect so much. I honestly feel really lucky to be on the same show!!

Some fans were concerned when Daredevil's costume was revealed to look more black than red. Will the Daredevil wear his traditional red costume in this season of "Daredevil"?

I didn't know some fans were concerned with that. I don't know if I'm allowed to say this or not but the suit actually changes colors, kind of like a mood ring. It also has GPS, and it will parallel park itself. Truly state of the art!!

Did you ever get to try on the Daredevil's suit?

I'm glad you asked this question. There is a scene that didn't make the final cut, where Matt gets mad at Foggy for stretching out his suit in the gut area, and he tells Foggy that he needs to go on a diet. Foggy's feeling are hurt at first, then he realizes that Matt is just using a "tough love" approach, because he loves Foggy and wants Foggy to live a long and healthy life.

Mark Murdock was blinded as a child so it's not surprising that he has a blind television audience that closely follows the show. Netflix is catering to this blind audience by offering an audio description option for all 13 "Daredevil" episodes. How does it feel to be a part of the first Netflix show to offer this option?

I'm proud to be a part of it. I hope it's the first of many. I hope other television platforms will do the same!!

What's next for you in 2015?

Season two is next for me, which I couldn't be happier about. I'm also looking forward to working on a project with my younger brother Garette, who is an amazing director.

While filming, how did you avoid losing yourself in Foggy's character?

The reality of having a newborn son while shooting season one is mostly how I avoided it.
