Hamilton would've been shocked at the drift toward the entitlement mentality. He always believed that merit was where you earned your way in life. His view of the national government was for defending the U.S. from foreign intrigues and to facilitate commerce between the states.

Just like we shouldn't blame the inventer of fire for people who burn down houses, Hamilton was wise in creating an Executive branch that had the power to get done what needed to be done.

The American citizens are responsible for who we elect and how we allow them to continue their wayward ways at times.

Things were fairly balanced until 1903/4 when the progressive movement emerged to "protect the people", "ensure fairness", "pick winners and losers" etc. that we have slowly moved towards an entitlement mentality. HamiltonRand@gmail.com
