The large intestine is filled with billions of benign bacteria which digest the undigested food that has been passed from the small intestine, and these bacteria in turn pass essential nutrients through the intestine wall. Poop consists entirely of dead and dying bacteria in a watery suspension. These bacteria give off gases and odours that we have learnt to regard as offensive. If we did not dislike the odours given off by faeces, we would not avoid it in the way we do, and would risk our health. Poop is mostly water and the rest is food you cant digest that is known as fiber. The dead bacteria that live in your intestines and help you digest your food are also included in this, and it is these microscopic corpses that causes your poop to smell.
Why does poop smell? Well poop smell because, the bacteria inside of the feces is what makes them smell so bad. Specifically, the bacteria produce various compounds and gases that lead to the infamous smell of feces. Just in case you were wondering, you can get very sick by eating feces because it contains so many types of bacteria and other harmful substances such as parasites.Poop will vary in smell depending on the type of foods and drinks that you consume. Generally speaking, feces will smell worse if you consume foods or liquids with many artificial flavors or chemicals in them. The bad smell of feces will usually be reduced by eating more natural foods that do not contain any artificial flavors or chemicals. Also, the poop of meat eaters usually smells worse than that of vegans. So, does it answer your question?
