Men have a single X chromosome paired with a Y chromosome which is wha makes them male.

Women have two X chromosomes which essentially gives them a "second shot" at any trait that is coded on the X chromosome.

Men, by having only one X chromosome, only get one attempt at a functional X chromosome. Women on the other hand have 2 shots at it, meaning that if there's a mistake, or mutation, on one of them, the body has a "back-up" chromosome. This Leads to a higher previlence of sex linked disorders like colour blindness, hemophilia and fragile X disease in men.

In dominant traits, there only needs to be one copy of a particular allele to cause a diseae, while in recessive traits normally there needs to be two copies to cause that disease.

In sex-linked diseases the difference comes in because women have two copies of their x chromosome, while men have one x and one y. This means that if a woman has a recessive disease on one of her x chromosomes, the other one will cover up for it and the girl will still be disease free. On the other hand, if a male has a disease on his x chromosome then he has no other copy to cover it up, so it will show.

You are grossly mistaken. Ask a gynaecologist/Obstetrician and you will feel that the converse is true. Things that are talked about more and are easily discovered seem to be more prevalent but that's not true in this case

Any sex-linked disorder which is carried on the X chromosome and is recessive will be more common in males than females because males have only one X chromosome and females have two. This means that if a male has the disorder on his X chromosome he will have the disease, while a woman would need the disorder to be present on both X chromosomes.
Males can express single recessive alleles from their single X chromosome
Males have just one X chromosome. Thus, all X-linked alleles are expressed in males, even if they are recessive.

males sex chromosome: xy females sex chromosome: xx

they y is the same as the x except it's missing the bottom right part of the x. that part would override the sex-linked disease, and since males don't have it then if their x contains the disease it will not get overridden. the females have an extra x to override the disease (heterozygous), but if both of the x's in the female contain the disease (homozygous), then they would have it

Males are characterized by the XY sex chromosomes, while females have the XX. Y is generally non-coding; thus if a male's mother has a sex-linked diseases, he is GUARANTEED to also have it; however in females, if one X chromosome carries the recessive disease allele, the other X, if normal, will dominate. Thus, it is far more likely for males to contract these dieseases.
