Several versions were compatible at the time of its release, from 3.2 to 4.1. It may or may not be compilable with 4.2; I doubt anyone has tested that kernel revision in quite some time.

Enough free space on your computer for the kernel sources. 100 MB should be fine; this isn't really an issue on modern computers. 4. A competent understanding of what components are needed for your computer. Most of the device support should be easy, but many people get confused in the networking section.
