I have a sportster and it doesn't have a drain plug. It has a drain hose that is located under the engine and is connected to the rear pipe mount on a stud with a small hose clamp. Loosen the hose clamp and just pull the hose off the stud and the oil will drain. Don't forget when replacing the oil to put about 4 oz into the filter before putting it on and make sure the oil starts to come out of the drain hose before reconnecting it to the stud or the oil will get vacumed similar to vapor lock. LocationThe dipstick is located on the passenger side of the engine. Fluid is added through the dipstick. On 2001-2002 Explorers there is no dipstick. With engine running & transmission warm & reasonable level you must access the drain plug seal under the transmission. You will find a large nut(drain plug) & within it is a 3/8" Allen plug. Holding the large nut w/a wrench unscrew the Allen plug and if a small dribble comes out your full. Replace plug & your set.This Ford's idea of a "sealed unit."

Compress the spring clamp located on either end of the lower hose and pull back about three inches. After doing so you will be able to remove the hose from its inlet. In front of the transmission should be the oil pan, a big, black tub looking thing with a bolt on the bottom of it. That is the oil drain plug. A 5/8 ratchet takes it off.
