Actually, according to The Bible, when God first created Adam and Eve here on earth, they were supposed to live FOREVER.(Genesis 2:15-17) If they had never touched that tree, they'd still be alive today, right here on earth. As mankind grew further from perfection, their lives grew shorter.

*Adam lived 930 years(Genesis 5:5)

*Seth lived 912 years (Genesis 5:8)

*Mahalalel lived 895 years(Genesis 5:17)

*Methuselah lived longer than any human so far at 969 years (Genesis 5:27)

*Noah was 600 when the flood came (Genesis 7:6) and he lived to 950 (Genesis 9:29)

By the time *Abraham came along, his life span was 175 years (Genesis 25:7)

*Isaac lived 180 years (Genesis 35:28)

*Moses died at 120 years, but he was especially strong and "his eye had not grown dim, and his vital strength had not fled." (Deuteronomy 34:7) Moses wrote the Psalm that indicated that by that time, the majority of people were living 70 or 80 years(Psalm 90:10) like today.

Because of Adam's sin, mankind dies (Romans 5:12), but God holds out the hope of EVERLASTING life, as originally purposed, for those who take the time to learn about him and his son(John 17:3), accept Jesus' ransom sacrifice and become obedient to God.(John 3:16)(Matthew 7:21-23)

What is the evidence that the Bible is God's word?

The Bible is not infallible. There is no evidence that it is Gods word. But there is evidence that it is a Hebrew idea (thoughtform). The Bible is considered to be Judeo Christian, although it has influences from Egypt, Persia, Greece, maybe even China and India. It might be better to say that it is a God's word. There's no evidence of God himself ever existing, so there will not be any evidence that he decided what went into the bible. That's why most Christians will just tell you they have faith. See the related link on the left for a Christian perspective on the question. If the Bible is really God's word, then all it's Prophecies & Promises will be fulfilled, and the events will not contradict, agree? See link on left on Prophecy & Promises, History & Science and Absurdities in the Bible.

Does The Bible have authority?

A lot of people say the Bible is the authority, but you have to keep in mind that God wrote the Bible to remind of of his love. So often people make the Bible their god instead of God (if that makes sense). So basically the real authority is God; He just often shows us what to do or how to live through the Bible.because it is god-breathed
